A recommendation starts with the ground you keep and the jobs you repeat. Gate width, bed size, storage, water, power, and weather come before a feature list. If a tool does not match that work, it does not belong on the page.

Gift guides use the same test. A present should map to work the person actually does — beds, paths, freezes, lighting — rather than to a novelty ranking.

How the notes are written

We research manufacturer listings and specifications, then match them to the job on the ground. We have not tested every item.

Specs and prices live on the retailer page

Specifications in the guides are taken from manufacturer listings. The retailer page is the record that matters the day you buy. We do not print a live price. A budget heading on a gift guide is a way to sort the list, not a quote.

Hero and guide-card photographs are freely licensed pictures of the place or the work the card is about — a lit house, a door wreath, a bed, a set of pruners. They are not product shots. Product cards do not use stand-in photos.
